Introduction

In an era of innovative breakthroughs and evolving food landscapes, the conference on "Microbes in Food Technology Innovation" emerges as a dynamic platform for converging ideas and discoveries at the intersection of microbiology and food tech innovation. This conference serves as a nexus for stakeholders across the food industry, facilitating discussions and insights into harnessing the power of microbes to drive advancements in food technology.

The conference embraces the revolutionary potential of microbes in redefining the way we perceive, produce, and consume food. Microbes have long been central to various culinary traditions through processes like fermentation, and now they stand as catalysts for novel flavors, sustainable practices, and enhanced food security.

The conference will span a spectrum of compelling topics, enabling attendees to delve deep into the intricacies of microbial involvement in food technology innovation. Topics include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Probiotics: Unveiling the multifaceted role of probiotics in promoting gut health and enhancing food products.
  2. Fermentation Flavor Magic: From time-honored fermented foods to yeast extracts and novel flavors, exploring the transformative power of microbial fermentation.
  3. Microbial Preservatives and Antimicrobial Compounds: Examining the potential of microbes in crafting natural preservatives and antimicrobial agents for enhanced food safety.
  4. Microbial Proteins, Lipids, and Coloring : Unleashing the potential of microbes to produce alternative proteins, lipids, and natural food coloring agents for a sustainable protein industry.
  5. Microbial Food Ingredients and Enzymes : Delving into the intricacies of isolating strains and employing metabolic engineering to develop innovative microbial food ingredients and enzymes.

Abstract Submission

If you are interested in sharing your experiences in BESS Conference on Microbes in Food Technology Innovation, please submit an abstract of your presentation and biography using the abstract template and Name it as "Abstract_Your_Name" and submit it to contact@bess.org.sg.

There will be both poster and oral presentation sessions. The Conference Scientific Committee will select abstracts for the oral presentations. The rest abstracts will be incuded in the poster session and are eligible for poster judging to get best poaster awards.

BESS Start-up Challenge 2023

Startups who are harnessing microbes in food-related technology innovation are welcome to participate the inaugural BESS Start-up Challenge 2023. Your company's technology can fall wihtin any of the above conference topics. Interested startups, please send your latest deck to contact@bess.org.sg. The deadline of application is Oct 15, 2023. Six finalists will be selected to give a five-minute shark tank pitch followed by five-minute Q&A at the conference in front of a panel of Sharks. Top three will win the Challenge and receive an award from BESS. All participated startups are eligible to have an exhibition booth at the conference free of charge for you to showcase your technology and exhibit your food products. Tastng is allowed only if you have obtained regulatory clearance from food regulation organizations, for example from Singapore Food Agency (SFA) or equivalent.

Hotel Accommodation and Conference Venue

Participants may choose any of their preferred hotels in Singapore for accommodation. Participants are to make their reservations directly with the hotels. However, for your reference, the following hotels are close to the conference venue.
