BioEnergy Society of Singapore

Thank you for the interest in joining BESS. Membership is open to corporate and individuals. Privileges for Full Members include full access to BESS databases, participation in all activities organized by BESS, voting right in General Meetings and being elected to serve the Council. The details of each category of membership are listed as follow:

Corporate Membership:
(a) Full Membership: Any organization, government or private, commercial or otherwise, that is incorporated or registered in Singapore and engaged in any activities* that deal with any aspect of bioenergy shall be eligible. The organization is entitled to nominate two (2) of its employees as its official representatives and to change its nominees from time to time provided that the Committee has no objection to any such nomination.

(b) Affiliate Membership: Any firm, organization or body, local or overseas, shall be eligible. Affiliate Members shall enjoy all the privileges of Full Members except that they may not vote at any General Meeting or be elected to serve on the Council. . They may however be co-opted to serve on any committee appointed by the Council or onto the Council itself.

Individual Membership:
(a) Ordinary Membership: All individuals who support or share the aim of the Society, and is working / have worked in relevant industries* shall be eligible. Ordinary Members shall enjoy all the privileges of Full Members.

(b) Associate Membership: All individuals who support or share the aim of the Society but are not working in bioenergy-related industries shall be eligible. Ordinary Members shall enjoy all the privileges of Full Members except that they may not vote at any General Meeting or be elected to serve on the Council. They may however be co-opted to serve on any committee appointed by the Council or onto the Council itself.

Student membership
All students registered for full or part-time study at an institution of higher learning who support the aims of the Society but have no relevant working experience shall enjoy all the privileges of Full Member except that they that they may not vote at any General Meeting, may not be elected to serve on the Council and may not be co-opted to serve on any committee appointed by the Council.

Only Ordinary Members who are above 21 years of age shall have the right to vote and to hold office in the Society.

* Relevant industries/activities: Any industry/activity as agreed upon by executive committee members.
